I was really hoping to resurrect this blog so I could say I reached the "in 100 days my baby is due" stage of life, but I missed it by 6 days. So if by some miracle my baby is born on July 26th then this is some great future telling. If not, it's just more proof of my procrastination.
But can we talk about this for a minute? I am growing a human, which blows my mind daily. I'm growing, it's growing. It moves around in there and has habits already, at least based on when it tends to be the most active and kicky. Each week it learns a new trick, like swallowing or opening its eyes or developing a sense of touch. It's such a miracle that a person is being built from 2 little cells that met in a doctor's office. I forget sometimes though that pregnancy, this long sought after experience, is going to result in a baby-toddler-child-tween-teen-young adult-adult. Someone I will have and care for the rest of their life and mine. Getting pregnant seemed like such a thing, the biggest thing. But it's just the start. I need to keep growing this baby, get it to the outside, and then sustain its life until it can take care of itself. I have to be a parent. And I have fewer than 100 days to get used to adopting this new role for the rest of my life. But first, I'm going to buy my dream rocking chair - parents need those, right?
